Sustainable Packaging Design: Answers Pet Food

Integrating new package designs and launching multiple new lines of frozen products — a brand was born. The challenge was phasing out original product design without disassociating the company from its core customers. The evolution was coordinated with a slow phase out of existing in-store packaging while consolidating rapid new product expansions into a cohesive recognizable brand. 
Launch of new 4lb sustainable, recyclable cartons 
Packaging strategy identified budget concerns, printing limitations, and positioning a roll-out launch from 
existing shelf merchandise into an engaging, easy-to-identify vibrant brand look.​​​​​​​

Reinforced company environmental commitment of omitting the use of any plastic in packaging. 
The sustainability stewardship is apart of the mission to deliver raw foods in their freshest, safest state. ​​​​​​​

Under the same category of product line, Nibbles and Patties boxes had a cohesive protein 
color identification for ease of recognition and purchase.

Key communication points and visibility was determined not only by front-end perimeters, but also throughout the process of being 
marketed and positioned in-store by retailers. Independent, small business retailers across the U.S. carried Answers products. 
Shelf merchandising management, freezer space and floor plans varied considerably. Product displayed in various freezers needed to be versatile. 
Package design was designed to be vertical, horizontal or side-view.

Packaging is a critical factor in brand recognition. Key marketing factors include: positioning, storytelling, communicating brand values, and building trust.
In order to influence shopper purchasing behavior, clarity, consistency, functionality, practicality, sustainability, color and typography is crucial for success. 

1lb cartons for Dogs & Cats 
Color indicators used for proteins, blue and green line color differentiates dog food from cat food. 
Sustainable recycled material box
Lightweight but sturdy innovative packaging for large duck eggs 
that are flash-frozen and crack under the freezing process
which is completely normal and safe for fermented raw products. 
Box insert for detailed information and story of farm which 
they came from is included.

With wax paper to separate raw cheese bites. Naming conventions and product line names was apart of the project.
Tactics were to invoke the senses, be memorable and engaging.
